Volunteer
Join the Northeast Seniors Volunteer Crew
We invite our neighbors who live and work in Northeast Minneapolis, St. Anthony Village, Columbia Heights, New Brighton and surrounding locations to become a NE Seniors volunteer.
ADOPT A NEIGHBOR - NE Minneapolis, St. Anthony Village
Looking for something to do? Understand and practice social distancing? Want to help a neighbor? Looking for a family project?
Helping seniors with lawn care is a great way to get outdoors and do something good. Seniors are a vulnerable population in this time of COVID-19. So helping them with Spring leaf raking and Summer lawn mowing gives them the chance to focus on taking care of themselves rather than worrying about the lawn. S;now shovelling in Winter helps keep seniors safe from falls and is much appreciated.
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS
Once they are vaccinated seniors will be like the rest of us, trying to 'catch up' on missed appointments. Volunteer drivers are important to local seniors, as they get them to and from doctor and other medical appointments, to the grocery store, hair salon, pharmacy and other essential places.
Drivers pick the days and times that they are available to drive. It could be once per week or it could be once per month. You let us know and when seniors call in for a ride, we call you to confirm your availability and schedule the pickup and drop off times and locations.
All volunteers drivers apply for the opportunity. We invite you in to talk with our staff. NE Seniors reviews your driving record, conducts a criminal background check and calls references. The forms for this position are shown below. Call 612-781-5096 to become a volunteer driver. MAILING TEAM Our Newsletter is published 6 to 8 times a year, and we need volunteers to assemble, address and mail them. The process takes about 3 to 4 hours and is usually done in the Northeast Senior Services offices. During Covid, we are delivering the needed supplies to volunteer's homes and picking up the completed newsletters.
