Housing Fair
The Housing Fair is on September 20th from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Ukrainian American Center 301 NE Main St. NE Minneapolis, MN 55413.
Keynote speaker is Margaret "Pook" Grathwol of Grathwol Law P.A. She has 30 years of experience and is a founding member of Minnesota Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. (MN - NAELA), serving as the past president. Further, “Pook” was awarded the 2020 Mary Alice Gooderl Award by the Minnesota State Bar Association's Elder Law Section. She will speak about ELDERLY and CADI waivers. Furthermore, she will discuss the differences between wills and trusts and when to use which document.
Nancy Haugen, President of Elder Voice Advocates and Elder IQ. She is an RN and Public Health Nurse with a Masters Degree in Mental Health Nursing. She also serves on the board of the MDH Homee Health and Assisted Living Advisory Council. She will explain the Elder IQ’s Statewide Senior Housing REPORT CARD for seniors and their care givers. This report deals with independent apartment living, assisted living and nursing home care.
Deb Schmit from Hennepin County Adult Protection will present information to keep seniors & and their caregivers safe from elder abuse. Deb has a MSW and is a Licensed Social Worker. For the past 8 years she has been the Social Work Unit Supervisor with Adult Protection in Hennepin County. Deb also has 4 years experience investigating complaints of maltreatment of vulnerable adults and providing care for those adults. Prior to her work with vulnerable adults, Deb worked with victims of domestic violence, rape and sexual assault.
Many senior housing providers will be in attendance with tables full of information.
This Fair is free to the public.
