RIDES - Northeast Senior Services, Inc.
The RIDES program serves Seniors, age 60 and over, who live in Northeast Minneapolis, Columbia Heights, Saint Anthony Village and New Brighton. Our volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to transport seniors to appointments.
To schedule a ride, call 612-781-5096 by NOON on Thursday to request a ride for the following Monday or after. If no one answers, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
We appreciate donations for rides. The suggested donation is $10.00 for a round trip ride, but you are welcome to give what you can afford. Everyone donates some amount for a ride. Just give the donation to the driver when you are picked up.
RIDES are provided Monday through Sunday during daylight hours. We suggest making appointments between 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., so that rush hour can be avoided.
All volunteer drivers are screened including a Minnesota criminal background check, Minnesota driving record check and references.
The program has volunteer drivers who transport seniors in their personal vehicles. All riders must be able to walk to and from the vehicle and their appointment on their own. Riders may bring a walker or cane, but we are unable to transport wheelchairs or scooters.
Provision of rides is dependent on having a volunteer driver available. Sometimes we are not able to meet ride requests. Medical appointments have priority in scheduling rides.
